APDP Diabetes Apps Workshop Digital Solutions for Diabetes Management Diabetes School, October 3rd 2016
Promotors: Associação Protectora dos Diabéticos de Portugal (APDP) and Câmara Municipal de Lisboa (CML) Using new technologies, namely apps, can be an important support to monitoring and self-management of chronic diseases. In the case of diabetes, in the last few years there has been a significant increase in the number of apps that are available or in development. However, it is not uncommon for these apps to have a considerable gap between the expectations of its developers and the needs of potential users, in addition to facing the usual obstacles of a sustained use. Considering these challenges, APDP - Associação Protectora dos Diabéticos de Portugal, is organizing a workshop that puts in direct contact, people with diabetes and their caregivers, physicians, associations, medical device manufacturers, entrepreneurs and developers, academics and regulators, to help create an environment that supports the development of new technologies focused on the real needs and daily limitations of people with diabetes and their health care providers.
